Judith Ann Barton was born in West London and was educated at Ashford (Middlesex) Grammer School. Inspired from early childhood by her mother Roberta, Judith was encouraged in all aspects of the arts. She attended Twickenham Art School before joining a group of portrait painters from London. They worked together successfully for almost a decade on commissions and exhibition work both in England and abroad.

Judith won her first exhibition acclaim at 18 by winning the Havant Art Award for Portraiture, the picture was entitled ‘The Toy Maker’, It was so well received that it made the headlines in the local newspaper.

Since then Judith has encompassed the arts as a whole, including the teaching of painting, drama and the speaking of verse and prose, for which she and her pupils have won numerous prizes and awards whilst teaching at Bemridge Public School on the Isle of Wight (founded by John Ruskin to encourage artistic creativity). Judith’s students gained great results, many of them inspired to embrace the arts for their future careers.

Judith exhibits regularly at the Mall Galleries and has hung with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters (Candidate Nominated), The Society of Women Artists, Not the Turner Prize, Show Me The Monet and The Threadneedle Figurative Prize Exhibitions.
